17th July (Wednesday) (Day 1)

 9:30 am to 12:00 noon Morning Practice

 2:00 pm to 4:30 pm Workshop: Mobility and Strength Development

To set a good foundation, we first have to raise the mobility and strength in our body. Through a continuous but slow moving active practice, practitioners are putting in concentrated and focused effort in unlocking some of the commonly stiff body parts. Utilizing simple attainable exercises and drills will help practitioners gain a sense of stability, control and confidence in the vinyasa element of the practice.

18th July (Thursday) (Day 2)

9:30 am to 12:00 noon Morning Practice

  2:00 pm to 4:30 pm Workshop: Understanding Functional Movement

Understanding the bases of the main movement patterns in our daily lives and how we can best develop strength, flexibility, and overall control while countering the affects of aging and stiffness in our chosen activities and avoiding injury altogether. There will also be discussions, sharing, questions and answers and demonstrations.

19th July (Friday) (Day 3)

9:30 am to 12:00 noon Morning Practice

2:00 pm to 4:30 pm Workshop: Deep Hip Opening

With progressive practices on Day 1 and Day 2, we begin to open and release the hamstrings, hips and hip flexors with awareness, see how that mobility transfers up the spine, practising the seated postures can effectively improve the deep mobility of those. We will look at effective ways to work for those who are challenged by these poses, use tools to remember and/or make sense of the order, and see how the progressive sequence of postures in primary series unfolds one into the next.

20th July (Saturday) (Day 4)

2:00 pm to 4:30 pm Workshop: The Keys to Backbends and Inversions

Exploring ways on building openness in the front side of the body, hips and shoulders and inspiring overall strength, making the common sore back a thing of the past, all of which are crucial for backbends and inversions. To turn upside down takes immense amount of strength and fearlessness. We will work with simple techniques to build confidence and stability in inversions. Come experience the freedom these postures inspire.

 

21st July (Sunday) (Day 5)

9:30 am to 12:00 noon Morning Practice

2:00 pm to 4:30 pm Workshop: Jump, Lift and Float!

With each of the asanas built in first four days, Day 5 is about putting them together with transitions. Experience the float to bring a full circle to this workshop series. Tackle main obstacles or “hidden locks” that prevent students from experiencing the lightness, grace and strength of a master. Work on techniques for jump throughs, jump backs, headstands, forearm stands, handstands, and more. Be ready to explore ways of refining a seasoned practitioner’s skills. There will also be hands-on adjustments and discussions.
